What is Imprinted Concrete?
Patterned imprinted concrete is a great choice for driveways as an alternative to block paving, tarmac or resin bound. The technique allows us to create the appearance of multiple paving stones/slabs, but with the hard-wearing characteristics of a single layer of concrete.
To make your driveway, the surface is prepared and dug out to the appropriate level. Then concrete is laid to fill the surface, and before the concrete has fully set a stencil is applied to the upper surface to create a stone, paved or other pattered effect. Edging patterns can be included in this to really finish off the look.
Once the new concrete has fully cured, the attractive, low-maintenance driveway, patio or path surface is ready for use.
What are the benefits of imprinted concrete?
Our patterned concrete service driveways, paths and patios come in a wide range of textures, colours and patterns. This means your concrete drive can be designed in a style to compliment the appearance your garden or house. Concrete is a highly versatile surface, fitting into nearly any shape or outline, even areas that are difficult to pave using other methods.
On a standard home driveway we lay the concrete to a minimum depth of 100-125mm, with the option of a thicker layer on heavy use areas. Patios or pathways are often suited to a shallower depth of 75-100mm.
Once you've chosen your concrete colour and pattern, you can also enhance the longevity and appearance with a concrete sealer. This gives the concrete a far more stain resistant finish and adds a fantastic effect to the entire area.
